Safaris in Vaalwater, Holiday in Vaalwater

Jembisa an African Safari in Limpopo, a destination worth to be enjoyed by the whole family set within a private game reserve.

It is a breathtakingly beautiful reserve that encompasses a wide diversity of habitats and biomes including savannah plains, syringa forests, riverine forests, gullies, rock faces, cliffs, flood plains and with 7 km of the Palala river meandering through it. As a result it is home to a very broad range of fauna and flora species The land is managed in line with a plan drawn up by Dr Fanie Venter, a leader in the field of bushveld management. It is private land that is owned by the owners of the Jembisa Bush Home. This allows for good conservation management and control and provides guests with privacy and the knowledge that there will not be other visitors to the reserve other than Jembisa guests. Our Team Within the staff team of 15, the majority have worked at Jembisa for several years and are an important and integral part of it. Their passion for ensuring that every single guest has a safari holiday of a lifetime can be seen in the guest comments. Many of our guests describe their time at Jembisa as the best holiday of their lives. The owners and staff of Palala River Cottages are fully committed to and play an active role in the conservation of the Waterberg region and the social upliftment and wellbeing of the local communities. The owners of Palala River Cottages founded this charity in 2000 in response to the need to educate the local community on awareness and prevention of HIV/Aids. operates a pre-school, next to the township, for orphans and vulnerable children. delivers palliative care through a hospice, situated next to the township and through home based care. partners with the Government Health department in providing antiretroviral (ARV) therapy and support in a new treatment centre in the middle of the township. Visits can usually be arranged to some of the projects and past Palala River Cottages guests have found these very rewarding. Guests may also like to bring with them useful items to give to the projects such as footballs, pencils, books and old clothes. During the World Cup we erected a transmitter and large screen in the local school to enable more locals to view matches. As part of the land management plan at Jembisa locals are given access to cut wood, grass and river reeds. Jembisa supports local schools in a variety of ways, eg cutting the grass on their pitches, funding some children and outings, financial support. This detailed plan covers all aspects from the land, river, flora and fauna management. Internationally the main organisation that we support is Fauna and Flora International.
